TVG is pleased to announce the launch of BioPartnering Future EUROPE (BPFE) 2012 at the 19th Annual BioPartnering Europe™, held in London this week. This new event aims to build on the hugely successful format of BPE to become the leading pan-European platform for biotechnology and pharma partnering, and will provide important opportunities for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) to attract new funding.
BPFE will be hosted in Brussels, Belgium in 2012, which is home to many European biotechnology and pharma organizations as well as being close to many active life science clusters, including Wallonia, the Flanders region and Brussels.
Robert Lee Kilpatrick, Partner, TVG, said: “Looking forward, a central European location is a natural choice as we implement our growth strategy, using Brussels as the platform for global partnerships and giving our clients better business development opportunities.”
BPE2011, to be held for the last time at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre in London, is Europe’s longest-running biopharma partnering event, and for the past 19 years has been a key event in the international business development calendar. The event brings together international leaders from the biotechnology, pharmaceutical and financial industries with delegates from over 416 companies representing nearly
countries. BPE offers delegates the opportunity to participate in a variety of interactive leadership sessions and to meet face-to-face with potential partners over the three day conference. Other highlights of the conference include a discussion on today’s market and how it affects biopharma deals, as well as a workshop on the funding of international partnerships. In addition, the conference showcases some of the leading biotechnology companies in podium presentations, where delegates are able to introduce their companies, ensuring maximum exposure for their company, and their partnering goals and objectives.
Pierre Lamy, Health Business Unit Manager, with the Brussels Enterprise Agency (BEA) and Brussels LifeTech, the cluster of the Brussels biotech, pharma and medical technologies actors, explains why Belgium is the place to be for biotechnology companies: “Belgium boasts a dense network of more than 270 biotech companies working closely with universities, research institutes and hospitals.”
Another good reason to develop biotech business in Belgium is revealed by Frédéric Druck, Director, International Business with BioWin, the Health Cluster of Wallonia: “Beside private investors and well-capitalized VC funds, the Belgian Federal and Regional governments provide grants and subsidies for the research and development of innovative products & processes.”
Ann Van Gysel, General Manager of FlandersBio, which represents the cluster of Flemish life sciences in Belgium adds another asset to that: “As a representative of the life sciences industry, the cluster organizations are dedicated to the development and growth of the Belgian based biotechnology related industries and institutions.”
BPE is specifically designed to enable delegates to engage in face-to-face meetings with senior partnering executives from leading biotech and pharma companies, helping them expand their international business development opportunities. The global nature of BPE has been reflected in an extensive network of worldwide conferences with established events in the UK, Canada the United States, China, India, Australia and Latin America.
